[A series of recent emails by David Weber on the resurrection.]

Beloved, please be aware that I'm not talking about "dying and going to heaven" here. It's just that flesh and blood cannot inherit the fullness of the Kingdom of God, so there is a "demise" designed by God for these earthly flesh and blood bodies. Call that what you may.
The bottom line is that these present bodies are not the vehicles designed by God for FULL-BLOWN SONSHIP. That is why there must be a resurrection.
I share with you some thoughts on this ... This is simply food for thought. .

Regarding the Resurrection ...
The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the great proof of His being the Son of God. It was not possible that He should be held by death, because He was the Son of God, and therefore He had life in Himself, which He could not lay down but with a design to take it up again. The sure mercies of David is that everlasting immortal life, of which Jesus' resurrection was a sure pledge; and the blessings of redemption in Christ are a certain earnest.
Might it be then that we also shall lay down these earthly bodies only to take them up again - but in a much higher form as did Jesus? Is not this terrestrial body just a naked kernel to be sown in death, but from which a celestial body of much greater glory shall come forth?
The scriptures declare that there are bodies terrestrial as well as bodies celestial, but a different glory is that of the celestial body from that of the terrestrial, and a different glory is even that of one celestial body to another (work out your salvation with fear and trembling, beloved - as even that effects the glory of the body to come). Even as there is a glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars, and even as one star excels in glory over another, so also is the resurrection of the dead.
Physical flesh and blood bodies are sown in corruption; but are raised in incorruption; sown in dishonor; but raised in glory; sown in infirmity and weakness; but raised in power, and that in the form of a glorious celestial body, even that which can take on the form of spiritual (and yet physical) flesh at will - even as Jesus did after His resurrection.
I don't see that our hope is in avoiding the laying down of our physical bodies, but rather, our hope is in a resurrection into bodies of a more glorious form. I look to Jesus as our pattern for EVERYTHING, don't you? -- even our resurrection to full-blown immortality? I don't see that Jesus avoided death, but rather, He just passed right on through it into a glorified state of SPIRITUAL FLESH. That seems to me to be the pattern for the final stage of our salvation, which is the redemption of our bodies.
This corruptible must certainly put on incorruption, and this mortal must certainly put on immortality. When this comes to pass (the demise of the flesh and blood body and the FULL putting on of the spiritual flesh body) then shall come to pass the word which is written, "Swallowed up was Death by Victory. Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?"
This is surely an awesome subject, and admittedly, is something that most all of us know very little about. I do share what I do here in all humility before God though, that He might bring forth more revelation through this somehow. Whatever He brings, may we truly give all glory, honor, and praise to Him Who has conquered death and the grave for us ALL! May we sincerely give thanks to Him Who gives us the victory (even over death itself) through our Lord Jesus Christ, and may all fear of death be completely banished from the hearts of God's elect.

I'm just going to jump right in here, with the hope that most of you already have some understanding of the things that are being discussed here. Please show me a little grace with this, as I'm going out on a limb in a sense here, testing and trying some branches that very few have ventured out on. Granted, there may be some refining that still needs to be done to the word here, as my vision is not yet perfect, but if you read this with an open and tender heart, and are able to grant me some liberty here, you should be able to glean something very rich from this ... -- D

The Penultimate and Ultimate State of the Resurrection
I feel led to say something this morning about "zoe aionios," which can be translated as "God-life, age-effective," or "Age-effective God-life," and I want to discuss just how that term relates to the first resurrection, and a ministry in the coming age which must be "attained to" (Phillipians 3:11).
It seems to me that there will be two remnants working together in the coming age, both of which will have "attained" to the full resurrection of the soul, which, for lack of a better description, is a spiritual genuineness, which is at heart -- incorruptible. One of these remnants will be on the earth ministering by the fullness of the Spirit while still yet mortal (even as Jesus BEFORE His crucifixion - in flesh and blood bodies), and the other remnant will have gone on "to the other side" through death, but is able to pass from that side to this side in ministry specific to the body of Christ (even as Jesus AFTER His resurrection -- in spiritual flesh - "flesh and bone" bodies).

These companies of blessed and holy saints are first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb; the children of the resurrection. The "dead" of these will rise first to receive of their glorified celestial estates, and then those who remain on earth (but who have attained to "the first resurrection") will be changed when the Father's appointed time for the "demise" of their earthly tents comes to pass. I feel led to use the term "demise" here when referring to the laying down of the flesh and blood body, for a definition of "demise" is - "The transfer of the crown or sovereignty to a successor, as by death or abdication." In using this term, I hope that we can see that for those who "attain" to the first resurrection, physical death is merely a transfer from an earthen tent to a far more glorious estate.

Beloved, the bible describes the remnant that possesses the fullness of the Spirit while in earthen tents as "The Tabernacle of David." THIS is the Father's chosen means to draw "the remnant of Edom" and "the residue of men" to Himself during the coming great age of Tabernacles." It is those who have part in this ministry (having attained to the resurrection of their souls) who will pass on into the fullness of the resurrection (even the full redemption of their bodies) at the demise of their physical flesh and blood. It is at this point that all veils of hindrance between them, the aionian, and the eternal realm are fully lifted. These will then minister to the body of Christ even as Jesus did AFTER his crucifixion and resurrection unto glorification. These will be able to pass FREELY between the eternal realm and the time-space continuum, and will even be able to take on different physical forms at will (as did Jesus) being FULL-BLOWN SONS OF GOD.

This, beloved (the state of full-blown sonship), is the ultimate state of the resurrection, and is that for which all of creation is now groaning and is waiting for in great travail. The penultimate state of the resurrection is the "Tabernacle of David" state. When the Father calls individuals of the Tabernacle of David company to lay down their flesh and blood bodies to pass on into the ultimate state of the resurrection, then comes to pass the saying, "Blessed is he who dies IN THE LORD from now on." This "in the Lord," I believe, refers to a people who are completely LORDED over by Christ -- no self-life left at all. THAT is where we need to be, friends, and by God's grace, we might soon get there.

I feel the need to reiterate something, and that is that these physical bodies that we now possess are NOT the vehicles designed by Father for full-blown "Sonship." These bodies ARE capable (as conduits) for the Spirit to flow through, and that even WITHOUT MEASURE (as Jesus BEFORE His crucifixion and resurrection unto glorification), but they cannot manifest ALL THE FULLNESS of a GLORIFIED SON. Father has something else planned for that -- "flesh and bone," ... NOT flesh and blood.
Oh, and by the way, the framework for this heavenly "mansion" of "flesh and bone" is constructed in the spirit realm as we work-out our (soul) salvation here on earth. This means that what we do here NOW directly effects the estate that we will possess in the coming ages. Think on that, beloved.

To elaborate on this just a bit; if you are taking the things that Father has given you for the purpose of BLESSING OTHERS and for the ESTABLISHMENT OF HIS KINGDOM in the earth, and are squandering those things (whatever they may be) on your SELF here and now, then you can probably expect some sort of spiritual impoverishment in the coming ages. Dat's just da way tings woiks...
"There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for even star differs from star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead ..." (1 Corinthians 15:41-42a)
